About this print

“Cork Harbour II” is an original, limited edition, hand-pulled lino print. It is designed, carved and hand printed in West Cork. It is one of the biggest linocut prints I can currently produce.

This print stretches from Ringabella in the western side and stretches around the coast to Ballybrannigan beach in East Cork. It’s focal point is Cork Harbour, which is the second largest natural harbour in the world. It contains a number of islands, most of which are now connected to the mainland. Of note are Fota Island, Little Island, Haulbowline Island, Spike Island and of course Great Island with its settlement of Cobh. This was the point of departure for over 2.5 million Irish people who emigrated to North America during the Famine period. It was also the last port of call for the ill fated HMS Titanic.

This print also includes the final voyage of the mighty River Lee as it enters the Harbour and empties into the Celtic Sea. If you look closely, you can also spot the Lough, a popular spot for a stroll amongst Corkonians. This print also includes Crosshaven, Riverstick, Carrigaline, Monkstown, Passage West, Rochestown, Douglas, Blackrock, Carrigtohill, Middleton and Cloyne. In the city centre it includes the suburbs of Ballintemple, Ballinlough, Ballyphehane, Glasheen, Bishopstown, Sunday’s Well, Gurranabraher, Blackpool. Montenotte, Tivoli and Mayfield to name but a few.

Each “Cork Harbour II” is individually printed by hand using the highest quality fade resistant gold ink. It is printed on azure blue Canson mi-teintes paper. This is a 60% cotton paper, acid free and conservation quality. This means that your print will resist fading, yellowing and deterioration.

*Please note that the print comes unframed. The images supplied are simply to give an idea of how it may look when framed.

Please note that your print was made by a human hand and not a printing machine. This means that there will be small variations between prints, which adds to their uniqueness.

If a print is out of stock, please check back again in a couple of weeks, as I will be printing more. If a limited edition sells out, it will be removed from the shop.

Due to the size of the print, it will be sent rolled in a protective mailing tube and packaged to avoid damage to the print. It will be ready to bring to a framers for framing.
